Lunchtime Discussion

Tori graduated from Lafayette College following her first research foray into how Danaus plexippus, the monarch butterfly, responds to atrazine exposure and exhibits variable developmental success. As an undergraduate, she presented results of her thesis work at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), and then continued to work with monarchs before, during and after her master’s work. Her dissertation work with Diane Debinski PhD explores oviposition preference and larval survival of the monarch butterfly on Asclepias species of milkweed that are native to Iowa, and she counts numerous scientific and citizen-science outreach presentations amid her graduate work.

Tori will provide scientific highlights of her recent presentation made at the Ecological Society of America conference in August, but also will speak about how her Lafayette education led to and prepared her for the career trajectory in which she finds herself. Lunch will be served; we recognize students may need to come late and depart early, but don’t miss this chance to network and ask questions of Tori.
