What are some of the philosophical and day-to-day implications of determinism, i.e., the doctrine that all events, including human action, are determined by causes external to the will? Professor Gildenhuys will address this question, focusing on considerations about how a commitment to determinism affects thought about human action, human relationships, political and social theory, ethics, and meaning in life.
