Lafayette College's Theater Department is joining forces with The Ghostlight Project (https://theghostlightproject.com/). While the National kickoff for the project was during interim, Theater Department Head Michael O'Neill held a small event on that day to show our solidarity while we planned to hold a larger event once the semester began. We are now having that larger event two weeks to the day from the original Ghostlight kickoff. OUR Ghostlight Project will begin at 5:30PM on Thursday, Feb. 2nd in the lobby of Buck Hall on the downtown Arts campus and then will proceed outside to the Ahart plaza. (Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome and the event is free.) Join us and bring a light to fight the darkness (a cell phone light or flashlight preferred!). The original project kickoff asked that participants gather outside of theaters and, much like a ghost light is a beacon on a dark stage, stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone, regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, Immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. This event is just the start of what promises to be an important national and artistic conversation and one that Lafayette's Theater Department is honored to be a part of.
