Dr. Townsend examines the behavioral responses of wildlife to human-induced environmental change, and the consequences that these behaviors have for individual fitness and population dynamics.  Further, she seeks to identify management tools that can be used to conserve wildlife in this changing landscape. Dr. Townsend is at the forefront of interdisciplinary work, integrating tools from various ecological fields, including behavioral ecology, disease ecology, molecular ecology, and population ecology.
