DESCRIPTION:7:00 p.m. Composer’s Chat with Jason Trueting\nDr. Aaron S. Lit
wak ’42 Concert\nTwo of America’s boldest and most authoritative ensembles
join forces in \nthis rare collaboration. Since coming together at the Ya
le School of Music in \n1999\, So Percussion has been creating music that
is at turns raucous and \ntouching\, barbarous and heartfelt. Called “asto
nishing and entrancing” by \nBillboard magazine and “brilliant” by the New
  York Times\, the \nBrooklyn-based quartet’s innovative work with today’s
most exciting \ncomposers and their own original music has quickly helped
them forge a unique \nand diverse career. The Calder Quartet (inspired by
the innovative American \nartist Alexander Calder) was awarded the 2009 AS
CAP Adventurous Programming \nAward in recognition of its exciting program
ming and collaborations. This \nconcert features works for each group\, in
 cluding Steve Reich’s brilliant \nnew Mallet Music\, written for So\, as w
ell as two works especially created for \nthe combined ensembles by Jason
 Trueting and Tristan Perich.
