Lafayette College’s Community Based Teaching Program offers an open studio program from 4:00-6:00 PM every Thursday evening for any high school student wishing to increase their exposure to and understanding of contemporary art. This program serves to help students develop their verbal and physical skills art making skills, increase creative problem solving capacity, and expose them to alternative artistic approaches. Most classes take place in the Williams Visual Arts Building and occasionally go on field trips to museums, artists’ studios and other art related locations. Workshops from internationally recognized artists take place regularly.
Classes are free. High School sophomores-seniors are welcome. Some contemporary art content is relatively mature, so parent consent is encouraged for younger students.
