Apollo’s Fire

An Afternoon at Bach’s Coffeehouse
Apollo’s Fire is an early music ensemble of uncommon éclat, blazing a trail of critical acclaim from their home base in Cleveland to sold-out performances at Tanglewood, the BBC Proms, London’s Wigmore Hall, and beyond. Admired for their exuberance, passion, and delicacy, Apollo’s Fire lends vivacious panache to the spirit of an 18th-century Leipzig coffeehouse where J.S. Bach held court—fiery strings, colorful recorders, a dizzying harpsichord solo, rampant virtuosity. The program features Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 4 and 5, Telemann’s Don Quixote Suite, and conductor Jeannette Sorrell’s arrangement of Vivaldi’s La Folia, show-stoppers wherever they alight.
