Directed by Professor Michael O’Neill, with musical direction by Sarah Cohea, How The Grinch Stole Christmas will be performed in the Weiss Theater at 8 p.m. on Wednesday 7 December through Saturday 10 December, with matinees at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday 10 December and Sunday 11 December.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas is casting 3 men and 1 women, and from 8 to 10 men or women. Most of the cast will operate puppets; those with puppet experience are especially encouraged to audition.

Those auditioning will be asked to read or recite from works by Dr. Seuss. Those auditioning should also prepare a non-religious holiday or Christmas song. A pianist will be available at the audition; those auditioning must provide the pianist with sheet music. The director and musical director both request that those auditioning absolutely do not sing “Jingle Bells” or “Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Normally, How The Grinch Stole Christmas will rehearse Sunday through Thursday evenings beginning October 12. Night classes usually can be accommodated until technical and dress rehearsals begin and during the performance run. Cast members of The Secret Garden may be involved in both productions. All cast members must be available for a puppetry workshop during the day on Saturday 5 November.

All roles and all crew positions, except Stage Manager, are open. With permission of Professor O’Neill, Head of the Theater Department, cast of How The Grinch Stole Christmas may enroll in THTR 120; crew for How The Grinch Stole Christmas may enroll in THTR 121. These practicums are assigned .25 credits each in the 2016 Fall Term.
