Electrifying. Were there only one word to describe Hiromi’s live performances, that would be it. One word, however fitting, isn’t enough to capture the range of this bright young pianist and her trio. New York’s Daily News points to the “mercurial mix [of] the formal beauty of classical etudes, the pitched attack of prog-rock or even the ease of pop-tinged blues” in their music, which is to say nothing of the swing, funk, and myriad other influences. Hiromi’s imagination is as limitless as her playing is exhilarating.
