Florence: Days of Destruction (1966), a documentary film by Franco Zeffirelli

The University of Maryland Libraries shares a digital restoration of famed Italian director Franco Zeffirelli’s only documentary. Filmed in the days during and immediately following the catastrophic flood of the Arno River in Florence in 1966 and narrated by Richard Burton, the documentary reportedly raised $20 million for the international relief effort to rescue and salvage the cultural history of the city.
