Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) has dazzled the world with her matchless talent.  She made her long-awaited Broadway debut last fall as the sultry Shug Avery in the joyous and triumphant musical The Color Purple. With a soul-raising score of jazz, gospel, ragtime and blues, The Color Purple gives an exhilarating new spirit to this Pulitzer Prize-winning story written by Alice Walker.

This unforgettable and intensely moving new production mesmerized audiences when it premiered at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory, where critics hailed it as "a revelation" (Mark Shenton, The Stage). Now, this American classic comes to Broadway with a powerhouse cast including celebrated London star Cynthia Erivo, who will recreate her electrifying performance as Celie, along with Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks in the role of Sophia.

Spaces are limited and will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a non-refundable $20.00 fee for this event. Students must attend two Black History Month events and submit reflection forms via LafSync about those events in order to be eligible to register for the Broadway show. The reflection forms in LafSync mirror "The Big 8" social identities. Please choose the reflection forms (below) that most closely align with the main focus of the two programs/events you attend (race/ethnicity are most likely to be applicable). The reflections must be submitted by Thursday, February 18 at 5:00pm when registration for The Color Purple begins.

After submitting your reflections and registering via LafSync, please visit Intercultural Development in Farinon 107 to pay for your ticket.
