DESCRIPTION:Baher Azmy is the Legal Director of the Center for Constitution
 al Rights \n(CCR)\, a non-profit legal and educational organization commit
 ted to the \ncreative use of law as a positive force for social change. At
  CCR\, he has \nlitigated cases related to discriminatory policing practic
 es (stop and \nfrisk)\, government surveillance\, the rights of Guantanamo
  detainees\, and \naccountability for victims of torture. Baher is current
 ly on leave from his \nfaculty position at Seton Hall University School of
  Law\, where he taught \nConstitutional Law and directed the Civil Rights 
 and Constitutional \nLitigation Clinic. While a Clinical Law Professor\, B
 aher represented Murat \nKurnaz\, a German resident of Turkish descent imp
 risoned at Guantanamo Bay\, \nuntil his release in August 2006. In additio
 n\, he litigated cases challenging \npolice misconduct and violations of t
 he rights of immigrants\, prisoners\, and \nthe press.\n\nAzmy has authore
 d numerous legal briefs in the federal appeals courts and the \nUnited Sta
 tes Supreme Court on issues related to human rights and \nconstitutional l
 aw\, testified before Congress\, and produced substantial \nscholarship on
  issues of access to justice. He is a /magna cum laude/ \ngraduate of the 
 University of Pennsylvania and of NYU School of Law\, where he \nwas a Roo
 t-Tilden-Snow Public Interest Scholar. In 2012\, he was selected as \none 
 of the top 500 lawyers in America by /Lawdragon Magazine/. Baher has been 
 \npublished by and appeared on major media outlets including /The New York
  \nTimes/\, /The Washington Post/\, 60 Minutes\, PBS Newshour\, and MSNBC.
