Musette Project Duo
Dallas Vietty, Accordion
Ryan McNeely, Guitar

Popular in the early and mid 20th century in Paris, Bal-musette is a genre of French waltz music for dancing. The mission of Musette Project, founded in 2010 by American accordionist Dallas Vietty, is to interpret and explore the period of Bal-musette that intersected with Gypsy and American Jazz.

In performance at Lafayette College Musette Project will be in a duo configuration (Dallas Vietty: Accordion, Ryan McNeely: Guitar). The repertoire will feature waltzes by some of the great French accordionists: Jo Privat, Gus Viseur, Tony Murena, as well as the swing repertoire of Django Reinhardt, and contemporary French musicians who have given the waltz a contemporary sound.

The Music Department hosts these Noontime recitals on the first Wednesday of each month, which will include selections by visiting artists, as well as by Music Department students and faculty.  The programs begin at 12:15.  Bring your lunch.
