Ten years ago, Hurricane Katrina came ashore just east of New Orleans causing an estimated economic loss of $150 billion, over 1,800 deaths, and the worst natural disaster in U.S. history. This presentation focuses on the final major class-action lawsuit brought against the United States of America (USA) for the two floodwall failures along the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) and resulting inundation and devastation of the Lower Ninth Ward. This presentation will describe the 2013 court ruling that concluded the USA was not negligent in its activities in the IHNC prior to Katrina.
