2nd Annual Karl Stirner Arts Trail Auction

The Second Annual Karl Stirner Arts Trail Auction will be held Sunday, Oct. 4 in the Pfenning Alumni Center of Lafayette College, 352 Hamilton St. Doors open at 3 p.m. for cocktails and a preview and the auction begins at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and include a reception and the opportunity to bid for quality art.

New this year is a silent auction with over a dozen items and gift packages donated by local and regional businesses, institutions, and community members.

Exceptional pieces that span both artistic form and genre have been donated. All proceeds benefit new installations for the Karl Stirner Arts Trail (KSAT), a scenic 2.4-mile path that runs along the Bushkill Creek and continues through downtown Easton.

Featured artists include Jase Clark, Fabian Marcaccio, Larry Fink, Josef Meierhans, Peter Grippe, Martha Posner, James Harmon, Faith Ringgold
Ed Kerns, Ed Eckstein, Jim Toia, Gerald Stern, Patrick Strzelec, Loren Madsen, Steve Tobin, Kim Thomas Malm, and Stacy Levy.

A preview of works will be on display at the Williams Visual Arts Building, 243 N. Third St., Easton from Sept. 29 – Oct. 3. Building hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m.

Artworks currently located along the trail include contemporary sculptures by Karl Stirner, Willie Cole, Patricia Meyerowitz, Patrick Strzelec, and David Kimball Anderson, as well as the 75-foot tall Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in Centre Square and the 9-foot bronze Christopher Columbus statue by Giuseppe Donato located in Riverside Park.

In the fall of 2014 the first KSAT Auction raised $40,000, which was then matched by a generous donor. Thanks to benefits from last year’s auction, three new installations were added to the KSAT this summer.

With support this year, the Easton’s Karl Stirner Arts Trail can be transformed into a major destination that will attract lovers of the arts and outdoors from points near and far.
