In conjunction with Skillman Library's exhibit on the book illustration of Frank E. Schoonover, Professors Robert and Jill May will talk about the role of the noted American illustrator Howard Pyle in instructing an outstanding group of young artists in the art of illustration, among them Frank E. Schoonover and N.C. Wyeth. Pyle's influential style of illustration became known as the Brandywine School, after the river that flowed through Chadd's Ford, Pennsylvania, where Pyle taught his protégés during the summers of 1898-1902.
