The catastrophic earthquakes and aftershocks of 2010-2011 in Christchurch, New Zealand set the stage for this public lecture. As a catalyst for student leadership development, service-learning, and global awareness, the lessons learned from the earthquakes will be reviewed with the intention of transferability and deeper understanding. From the rubble has come a city and a citizenry that is prepared to innovatively "be the change" they want to see in their city. Standing as the centerpiece and key component to all of this is the power of service when combined with learning. Pizza will be provided.
