Taylor Branch is the author of the widely-praised, three-volume narrative history of the civil rights era, AMERICA IN THE KING YEARS. Volume I PARTING THE WATERS (1988) won the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1988. Volumes II and III, PILLAR OF FIRE (1998) and AT CANAAN'S EDGE (2006) were also critically acclaimed. The lecture will be followed by a reception and book-signing in Kirby Hall.
