Mr. Kara will provide an overview of contemporary forms of slavery and human trafficking, including a detailed overview of the economic functioning of these crimes as well as comparisons to old world slavery. Mr. Kara will highlight how contemporary slavery functions as a business in the context of the global economy, and he will provide specific arguments on the kinds of law, policies, and tactics that may prove most effective at tackling these crimes.

One of the world's foremost experts on modern day slavery and human trafficking. Author of the award winning book, "Sex Trafficking: Inside the Business of Modern Slavery" and co-winner of the prestigious 2010 Frederick Douglass Award at Yale University.
Currently, a Fellow with the Carr Center Program on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery at Harvard University.
