Can statistics help us see social injustice?

Everyone knows that poor children tend to have lower grades. We will see that the association between poverty and low scores grows and stronger as students progress through school. Rather than alleviating the effects of poverty on academic achievement, our school system seems to be accentuating it. Even if your memory of the x and y-axis is a little hazy, you know enough math to enjoy this talk...
