In this series, students will learn about two supreme court justices (Anthony Scalia/Originalism and John Paul Stevens/Living Constitution), receive instruction on how to approach reading a case, and experiment with their skills in briefing the case being read.
In this second session of a three-part series, Professor Bruce Murphy, Fred Morgan Kirby Professor of Civil Rights, will present an introduction to the basics about how to read and brief a supreme court case.
Students should have committed to all three sessions:
Wednesday, March 4: Supreme Court Personalities: Anthony Scalia/ and John Paul Stevens/Living Constitution
Wednesday, March 11: How to Read and Brief a Case
Tuesday, March 24: Case Analysis
Reading materials will be sent electronically and handouts made available in each session.
