Lea DeLaria was the first openly gay comic to break the late-night talk show barrier with her appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1993.  She has performed stand-up comedy for more than 25 years and is a prominent figure in the world of LGBT comedy.  She also performed in the Off Broadway production of The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, and Broadway revivals of On the Town and The Rocky Horror Show.  Lea has appeared in a number of films, including Edge of Seventeen and The First Wives Club.  She also released a CD of jazz standards called Play It Cool.  Lea DeLaria is currently performing in Prometheus Bound at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts and currently appears as the recurring character prison inmate Carrie ‘Big Boo’ Black in the Netflix Original Orange is the New Black.
