Reception for Requiem artist Michael Pestel with 5 p.m. performance by Pestel on The Birdmachine a hybrid instrument that combines a square-design subcontrabass, contrabass, or bass recorder with a multitude of bird calls, a slide whistle, and percussive as well as various bowed accoutrements. It is set up in such a way as to allow the simultaneous production of multiple voices by a single player.
