Interfaith Council and the Hispanic Society of Lafayette will host a panel discussion about the Central American refugee children who are temporarily being housed in the Lehigh Valley. Speakers on our panel will include Erika M. Sutherland, associate professor of Spanish at Muhlenberg College and Rebekah Pite, associate professor of History at Lafayette College. Topics of discussion will include definitions of "refugee" v. ""immigrant", how local attorneys are volunteering to aid these children, how the political history of Central America led to some of these issues, and how we can been involved in improving the situation for the children. Lunch will be provided.
