Due to illness, violinist Augustin Dumay has regretfully withdrawn from his performance with Orpheus this evening. In his absence, Orpheus will feature acclaimed violinist Anne Akiko Meyers performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor. Orpheus will perform the remainder of the program as scheduled.

Anne Akiko Meyers is one of the world’s premier concert violinists. She made her Orpheus debut in 2012 with the Barber Violin Concerto, which she performed at the Williams Center. Meyers regularly performs as guest soloist with many of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, in recital, and on television and radio. She is a top-selling recording artist who has close to 30 albums to her credit. Recent performances include recital and concerto appearances in North America, Europe, and Asia, as well as new recordings with the London Symphony Orchestra and English Chamber Orchestra.

The chamber orchestra that hardly requires introduction at the Williams Center returns, this time with French violinist Augustin Dumay and the world premiere of composer Timo Andres’ Orpheus commission. The program also features Rameau’s Orchestral Suite from Les Boréades, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat Major.
